Today we had a small celebration in honour of our recent win at the Sciath na Scol final. We were delighted to celebrate with our parents, pupils and teachers. The glorious sunshine was an added bonus to our outdoor celebration which took place this afternoon.
Huge congratulations to our football team on winning the Sciath na Scol final & bringing the cup back to Castledonovan. We are very proud of you all. Thanks to Mr. O’Meara, Ms Healy and Steve Hurley for training and organising the teams. Thanks also to the supporters who came today to cheer on our team.
Rev. Bishop John Buckley confirmed pupils from 5th and 6th classes in Sacred Heart Church, Drinagh on 18th May. Some pupils did readings, sang hymns and brought gifts up to the altar.
Fr. Crowley, our parish priest, celebrated Mass with Bishop John Buckley. The pupils were anointed with chrism and told the bishop their Confirmation names.The children look forward to the gift of the Holy Spirit guiding them through life.

Pupils from 5th and 6th class took part in the West Cork Primary Debating competition. The motion was ‘School uniforms are a good idea’. Our first debate saw our team opposing the motion against Dromore N.S. After much research, preparation and practice our team were narrowly defeated. Second time round, we were proposing the motion against Scoil na mBuachaillí. Although, our team did their utmost on the day Scoil na mBuachaillí were the victors.
On the 15th of March, our school held our national flag raising ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the 1916 rising. The tricolour was raised by our principal, and the youngest and eldest girls in the school. Niamh and Ruben read aloud the original proclamation followed by our school’s new proclamation for their generation which was read by Katelynn. This was written by all pupils in our school and expresses their hopes and dreams for Ireland’s future.
